Canon Abilities: Enhanced up to a superhuman level of strength, speed, reflexes, agility and healing. He has shown himself capable of running as fast as nominal traffic, survive intense damage with little effort, and comparable supersoldiers can leap tens of feet straight up. His metal arm also grants him further power, allowing him to flip cars and brace lines to flip military trucks. However the metal arm also gives him something of a weakness to electricity.

Role Qualities/Attributes: An ability to shift into a very normal looking, fluffy tabby cat. He might start to develop fangs and maintain cat ears and tail as he gets more comfortable with the ability
Role Reasoning: Bucky in his current state is neither heroic or villainous, as he has not had control of himself or his life to be able to formulate much of a moral compass. There is a possibility that Bucky could shift towards Legend or Myth as he develops, but it will take time for Bucky to learn who he is and what he wants. It's far more likely that he remains passive and ends up pledging himself to someone else, but there's always a question mark when someone learns about themself, to see where they end up. I would like to see Bucky go to one established role or another, but there's a good chance he stays relatively neutral.

❥ Personality

Before his brainwashing, Bucky Barnes was a much more outgoing and fun-loving young man, with clear interests in fantasy novels, science, and athletics. He also showed a clear tendency towards protection of others, possibly as a result of being the oldest of four children, spending most of his time with and protecting Steve Rogers when the man got into various scrapes.

However, after being kidnapped and brainwashed by HYDRA, Bucky became an automaton of a person, showing very little emotion beyond frustration if a mission is going poorly, or rage when he had failed to protect Project Insight and was left to face down Steve’s insistence on knowing his identity. This is the state Bucky is in on arriving in Folkmore, having only just been removed from the aftermath of his failed mission.

As he recovers from the constant abuse and brainwashing, Bucky will remain withdrawn, skittish, and hesitant as he relearns how to be a person rather than a weapon. He will feel guilt over his actions and struggle to come to terms with the idea that he was as much a victim of HYDRA as those he was forced to kill.

Bucky would feel his full potential would be finding some way to repent or make up for the damage he had done to the world, but in truth, his potential will really be in simply finding peace with himself and coming to terms with his past.

Bucky thinks he would be willing to do anything to make up for his past, but will find that without HYDRA’s pressure on his mind, he is far less willing to harm others than he thinks. He remains always willing to fight to protect others and do the right thing, but will find himself less willing to hurt others, especially innocents, in order to gain anything for himself. However, as he explores living and his past, he’ll come to realize that simply being free of decades of torture, and finally having the ability to choose for himself and decide on his own destiny, is far more along the lines of what he truly wants.

It will be a struggle for him to start making choices for himself, to be able to function as a normal man, and to stop falling back into the habit of letting others control him and avoiding making choices of his own. But once he realizes that he is finally free to be able to decide what to do for himself, without necessarily needing to live his life for someone else’s whims, he will want to do a great deal in order to maintain his freedom.
